The Strengthening Leadership Series – Episode 5
Learning the lessons of Domestic Homicide Reviews
Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHRs) were established in 2011 under the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004. Under the Act, local areas are expected to consider the circumstances that led to a death caused by domestic abuse and identify where responses to the situation could have been improved.
This film will briefly outline the DHR process and outline the main lessons which are emerging from DHRs undertaken to date. These lessons should directly impact on practice now. It is only if these lessons are translated into practice change, that future homicides can be prevented.
