Day One of this year’s conference sees expert keynote speakers and themed workshops exploring different aspects of place-based working, identifying how collaboration between local people and locally trusted organisations improves the safety, wellbeing and future prospects of disadvantaged young people and communities. Day Two is devoted to Community Safety which will bring together expert teams from the youth justice and community sport sectors to share their latest research into sport's role in tackling youth offending and anti-social behaviour.
This conference will assess what more can be done to improve the participation of girls and young women in sport both at school and more widely and follows a Sport England survey published last year which found that 2.3 million children and young people are doing fewer than 30 minutes of physical activity a day.
Sustrans Big Pedal is the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking and scooting challenge supporting pupils, staff and parents to choose human power for their journey to school. It will run from 22 April to 5 May 2020 and is open to all primary and secondary schools in the UK, including SEN schools.
